Old Faithful

Probably the most famous attraction in Yellowstone, the Old Faithful geyser received its name after an 1870 expedition noted the regularity of its eruptions. After more than 1 million recorded blasts ranging between 100 and 200 feet,, the geyser still regularly erupts every 35 to 120 minutes. Although not the largest geyser in the park, Old Faithful remains the most predictable. The geyser is about 110 miles from Teton Village

Midway Geyser Basin

The Midway Geyser Basin is also known as Hell’s Half Acre. It also has a boardwalk and surrounding hiking trails that will give you an overview of the area. One highlight is the Excelsior Geyser which pours hot water into the Firehole River. Also in the area is the largest hot spring in the park, known as Grand Prismatic Spring. The Midway Geyser Basin is about 115 miles from Teton Village.

Grand Canyon Of The Yellowstone

Yellowstone’s Grand Canyon (not quite as big as that other Grand Canyon) has been carved over the centuries by the Yellowstone River. The Upper Falls are 109 feet high. A quarter mile further down the river, the Lower Falls are 308 feet, double the height of Niagara Falls. The Grand Canyon, into which the Lower Falls empty, can be up to 1000 feet deep. The Yellowstone Falls are about 130 miles north of Teton Village.
