Equal Exchange is an innovative, worker-owned co-operative dedicated exclusively to Fair Trade with small-scale farmer coops around the world. Founded in 1986 Equal Exchange pioneered Fair Trade coffee in the United States. They have since expanded their Fair Trade program to work with small-scale farmers of tea, cocoa, sugar and healthy snacks such as almonds and pecans. 90% of Equal Exchange’s coffee is certified organic, as is 100% of their tea, cocoa, sugar, chocolate, almonds and cranberries. 100% of Equal Exchange’s product line is fairly traded and, when possible, Fair Trade Certified™ by TransFair USA.

In addition to Coyuchi's commitment to organic and sustainable cotton production, we work closely with our producers in India whose cotton is all Fair-trade as well as organic certified. This means farmers are paid a premium that guarantees them a good quality of life, there is no child labor, men and women earn equal wages, training and continuing education are offered and community development is supported.
